Civil War Navy—The Magazine was founded and launched in 2012 by a group of friends from Savannah, GA sharing a passionate enthusiasm for the history of Civil War naval warfare and a desire to promote knowledge of the naval history of the conflict, which has often been overshadowed by historical accounts that have typically focused on the ground-based battles and leaders. Our guiding principle is to provide authoritative documentation describing the strategies, the naval vessels and weapons, the naval operations and battles on rivers and oceans, and perspectives on the officers and sailors involved in this period of our naval history. The Editors strive to supplement this descriptive information and narrative with widely sourced, archival period photographs, illustrations, and artwork that documented the years of Civil War naval warfare. We aim to provide an in-depth resource on the pages of our magazine and website.
Thank you for your support. We welcome your feedback and guidance.
