Replica Rains barrel (keg) torpedo plus display stand. Made to approximate specifications based on rare recovered specimens. A barrel was coated inside and out with pitch, tar, or resin for waterproofing. The barrel was then filled with gunpowder with a small air pocket left to assist in buoyancy. Conical ends fashioned of pine and coated with waterproofing were attached to assist in flotation. Two fuse mounts (4.5 x 5 inches) were added to the barrel with pressure-sensitive fuse primer fuses threaded for insertion into the body of the powder-filled barrel. The torpedo was secured with chains extending to a submerged mushroom anchor base (neither included with replica). The replica is made from a 3d printed barrel with resin conical ends, coated in simulated tar-resin mixture, with two copper painted resin fuses (packaged separately, to screw in place in the fuse mounts, with instructions). The overall length is approximately 45 inches, with a barrel of 12 inches maximum diameter, and tapered conical ends approximately 15 inches in length each. Free shipping.
